Curb-to-Curb Transportation Service

What is Charlotte County Transit?
​Charlotte County Transit is a shared ride curb-to-curb transit service provided to the general public throughout Charlotte County. The service area consists of most of Charlotte County and includes the Charlotte County portion of Englewood, Port Charlotte, and Punta Gorda.

What are the hours for Charlotte County Transit?

Charlotte County Transit operates Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 6:00pm. Saturday, from 9:00am to 6:00pm. Saturday service is restricted to a limited area.

Charlotte County Transit is closed on Sundays and all National and County recognized holidays.

How much notice do I need to give?

Scheduling in advance may give you multiple options for services, although same day trips may be scheduled based on availability.

Who can ride on Charlotte County Transit?

Anyone 13 years & over can ride on Charlotte County Transit. Children under 13 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

How much does Charlotte County Transit cost per ride?

All Charlotte County Transit trips are currently FREE of charge until further notice.

Where can Charlotte County Transit take me?

Charlotte County Transit can take passengers to several locations such as:

How much notice do I need to give to cancel my trip and who should I call?

It is requested you cancel your reservation at least 1 hour in advance of the scheduled pick-up window. If you do not cancel the reservation at least 1 hour in advance it will be recorded as a “Missed Trip”.

Cancelation line opens at 5:30 AM Monday through Friday and 8:00 AM on Saturday’s.

How long should I expect to wait for Charlotte County to arrive?

When making your trip reservation the dispatcher will provide you with a 30-minute pick up window based upon your requested destination arrival time. You can also request to receive a notification call of your reservation the night before your schedule trip.

Can Charlotte County Transit take me to work on a regular schedule?

Charlotte County Transit takes subscriptions for passengers who work a regular schedule or passengers who go to the same location on a regular basis. 

The passenger's only responsibility after making a subscription with Transit is to call to cancel any scheduled trips they are not going to take at least 1 hour in advance. This will not interrupt a subscription. 

How long will a driver wait for passengers to get on the bus?

Charlotte County Transit will wait for three minutes upon arrival at any location, allowing time for the customer to board/acknowledge the bus's arrival.  Passengers holding the bus for longer than three minutes, may be considered a no-show.

Are Charlotte County Vehicles Wheelchair Accessible?

Yes, all Charlotte County Transit Vehicles are fully accessible. Our ramps make it easy to board in a wheelchair, scooter, with a walker or stroller.

What is Transportation Disadvantaged?

Individuals, who are physically or otherwise disabled, 60 years of age or older, or qualify as low income, may be eligible for the Transportation Disadvantaged program service.  Transportation Disadvantaged applications can be downloaded from our website at http://y1wp.berxwedan.net/transit/ or you can call 941.833.6233 to request an application be mailed to you.
